Kaktus is a uniquely refreshing soda with a prickly edge: it’s made from the fierce and nutrient-rich cactus – that’s right, it’s more than just a cool looking plant! Designed to quench your thirst and intrigue your senses, Kaktus is made for adventurers: all the desert wanderers, mountain climbers, forest walkers, and beachcombers out there.
Mood Board
Since cactus grows in the desert, I was inspired by thermographic imagery for this project. I wanted to deliver a brand that is hot – like the weather and like a buzzing trend – so I used vivid colors reminiscent of thermovision.
For the logo, I used a wavy typography to depict the thermovision pattern.
Inspired by and derived from nature, Kaktus is made in a way that’s always kind to the earth. Cactus plants don’t need much water to thrive, and they can get by without harmful fertilizers and pesticides. Their roots stabilize the soil that surrounds them, and they’re MVPs in the desert’s ecosystem. We’re big fans of the versatility of cactus.
For the visual assets, such as the pattern design for the can, I wanted to create a thermovision effect when the can is held. I added a subtle grain texture to depict a cactus-like texture. The can will display a vivid pattern while including the benefits of drinking Kaktus, such as the hydrating and antioxidant-rich properties of cactus. The can will also include symbols showing that the product is vegan, recyclable, and GMO free.
To market the product, I plan to advertise the benefits of drinking cactus-based drinks. The first major benefit is hydration: cactus contains 5 naturally occurring electrolytes to boost hydration. The second benefit is the eco-friendly nature of cactus plants. They require minimal amounts of water to grow – around 90% less than coconut trees.
As consumers have an increasingly deep interest in caring for the environment, I plan to collaborate with a brand named ‘Desserto,’ which drives the world’s transition to sustainability through cactus-based innovation. They create cactus leather using innovative new technologies. This will enhance the Kaktus brand image by giving extra weight to our sustainability model.
